Bonnie Thompson
Bonnie Thompson, Executive Director

My name is Bonnie Thompson an I am the Executive Director here at Homeplace of Burlington.  I have been here since August of 1998. I tell our residents I am older than the building. I have been in healthcare since 1986. I started out at Skilled Nursing which is owned by Alamance Regional Hospital. I quickly found out what my passion was -- I love making residents and their families feel good about whatever is going on in their lives. When we have a new resident my family gets larger and larger. I have learned so much from all the residents that I have known over the past 20 years. They can teach us so much if we just take the time to listen. When you visit you may catch me and the residents acting silly or in the rose garden picking fresh roses for our tables. We may also be scooping ice cream, as they especially love our banana splits. We are always laughing and having fun. I feel truly blessed to be able to do what I do and be touched by all the wonderful people that have come into our family. I am a Burlington native and have been married for 34 years. I have a daughter and son whom I love with all my heart. My daughter has followed in my path; my son has chosen customer service in the sales field. When you visit you may see them pitching in to help.

Phyllis Enoch, Director of Food & Beverage

My name is Phyllis Enoch and I am the Director of Food & Beverage. I began my food service career in Fort Campbell, Kentucky at the Officer’s Club as a Dishwasher in 1979. This was followed by a trip to Hawaii from 1980 to 1984 where I worked at the local hospital as a Tray Line Server and Prep Cook and where I eventually became the Snack Bar Manager. I was the second African American to be employed by the Wahiawa General Hospital. After moving to Germany in 1988, I worked at the U.S. Army Officer’s Club as Head Cook. Shortly afterward I was promoted to Kitchen Manager where I successfully turned the restaurant into a profit making service which I was honored for. Food preparation has been a big part of my life as I come from a large family of cooks. I began in food service with the assisted living / long-term care communities in 1992. Here at Homeplace of Burlington we strive to perform above the standards, Health Department guidelines and Company Policies. I have one daughter named Valerie, who is pursuing a nursing career, and a goldfish named Cinderella. Fishing and inventing are my hobbies.
